See it work

Four lifestyles, matched

Not testimonials — the same deterministic engine, run live against four common situations, so you can see exactly how it reasons before you try it yourself.

  • GreyhoundWorked example

Apartment living, alone 6+ hours on a workday

    Greyhound97%

“They settle well in a flat and aren't especially vocal, which matters when you share walls.”

Long days on their own are genuinely hard for this dog. You'd need help — a walker, day care or a neighbour — not just good intentions.

  • WhippetWorked example

House with a garden, young children, wants low shedding

    Whippet97%

“Leaves comparatively little hair around the house.”

With children in the house this one needs more supervision and more structure than most. That's a real, daily commitment.

  • Poodle (Standard)Worked example

First dog, house with a garden, wants an outdoor companion

    Poodle (Standard)98%

“Forgiving of the mistakes every first-time owner makes, and quick to pick up what you're asking.”

The coat needs regular work, and skipping it doesn't just look untidy — it becomes uncomfortable for the dog and costly at the groomer.

  • Cavalier King Charles SpanielWorked example

Daily walks, a quieter home, not too big, easy to live with

    Cavalier King Charles Spaniel98%

“A good walk each day and a warm spot beside you — that's most of what this dog asks for.”

Heart problems are commonly seen in the breed, and long days alone are hard on them. Read the breed profile and ask a vet — general guidance, not a vet.

Flat-faced breeds are left out of this example on purpose: heat and breathing trouble are commonly seen in them, and that matters more than a score shows. General guidance, not a vet.

Why DoggMatch

What makes this different

You can see how every match was made
DoggMatch uses a fixed set of rules, not black-box AI. The same answers give the same result, and we show our reasoning.
The difficult parts count too
We look at barking, shedding, time alone, exercise and other everyday realities — not only the lovely parts of a breed.
Your hard limits stay hard
If a dog cannot reasonably fit something you told us is essential, a high score elsewhere will not hide that.
There is more than a score
Every result leads to a full, balanced breed profile and a realistic yearly cost estimate you can adjust for your life.
We stay useful after the match
DoggMatch+ brings practical help with training, food, weight, care, travel and the paperwork worth keeping together.

How it works

Three simple steps, and no rush.

  1. 01

    Tell us about your life

Your days, your home, whether you've had a dog before, and what you're hoping for.

  2. 02

We look for dogs that fit

We compare what you've told us with what each breed usually needs and enjoys.

  3. 03

    Meet your matches

See what makes each one a good fit, and the things worth thinking about too.

The breeds

Every breed, described honestly.

What they're usually like to live with — their energy, their coat, how they learn, and what a normal day with them really looks like.

Explore the breeds

Side by side

Torn between two dogs? Put them next to each other.

It's easier to decide when you can see where two breeds genuinely differ — exercise, shedding, grooming, and what they cost over a year.

Questions people ask us

Is the matching done by AI?
No. It's a fixed set of rules we wrote ourselves. The same answers always give the same dogs, and we show you the reasoning behind every score.
Does it cost anything to find my dog?
No. The questions, the results and every breed page are free. DoggMatch+ is only for the tools you use after the dog moves in.
What if a mixed breed is right for me?
Mixes are welcome. You can build one from two breeds and we'll score the dog in front of you rather than a label.
Can I trust the breed information?
We keep our sources open. Every breed, training and health page links to the bodies and research we lean on.

Take your time. This is a decision worth getting right.

We'll help you think it through, honestly.
